On October 9, 2018, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR lead the Lao delegation to attend the 10th Mekong-Japan Summi in Tokyo together with the leaders of Japan and five Southeast Asian nations along the Mekong River.

The summit aimed at adopting a new three-year strategy to improve connectivity in the region through quality infrastructure building.

During the Meeting, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam exchanged their views on the three main areas including connectivity, people and the environment.
