On 30^th August 2017, Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and his delegation paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Lee Nak Yon, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, at the Prime Minister Office, on the occasion of paying an official visit to the ROK from 29^th – 30^th August 2017 and attending the 8^th FEALAC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the 7^th Mekong-ROK Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Busan from 31^st August – 2^nd September 2017.

            On this occasion, H.E. Lee Nak Yon expressed his welcome and highly valued to Lao Foreign Minister that led his delegation to pay an official visit and also to attend the meetings in the ROK, which would be a significant contribution for tightening and enhancing relations and cooperation in all sectors, particularly between two ministries of foreign affairs of the Lao PDR and the ROK. During the meeting, two sides highly valued on the outcome of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation in various areas, for instance, in areas of economy, trade, investment and others, especially the area of tourism that is continuously growing due to the Lao PDR is one of the interesting destinations of tourists from the ROK.

            At the same time, Minister Saleumxay Kommasith expressed his great honor and sincere thanks to H.E. Premier for giving him His Excellency’s busiest time to pay a courtesy call on. He conveyed the warmest regards of H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, to the Prime Minister of the ROK, expressed congratulations on his recent appointment as Prime Minister of the ROK. Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith also strongly hoped that under the leadership of the ROK’s new government, the friendly relations and cooperation between two countries would be further enhanced, and informed a fruitful outcome of the bilateral meeting between two Foreign Ministers of the Lao PDR and the ROK.

            At the end, Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the government of the ROK for the invaluable assistance provided to Laos through bilateral and multilateral frameworks in the past years.
