On October 11-12, 2018, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of Lao PDR attended the meeting between ASEAN leaders and Managing Director of Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), President of World Bank (WB) and United Nations Secretary General in Bali, Indonesia. Themed “Achieve Sustainable Development Goals and Narrow Development Gap through Regional and International Cooperation”. The meeting was co-chaired by Indonesian President Joko Widodo andSingaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
The meeting discussed about significant issues related to economic-finance stabilization, ways and measures needed for boosting economic growth in ASEAN and cooperation to achieve 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
ASEAN leaders have emphasized the role of IMF and the World Bank and the United Nations in helping ASEAN members to address challenges and create favorable conditions for economic growthin order to narrow the development gap among ASEAN member states.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith reaffirmed, at the meeting, the implementation of the Lao PDR’s obligations to regional and international organizations as well as its efforts to stabilizemacro economy, promote trade and investment to ensure its regional and international integration.
