ASEAN FOREIGN MINISTERS’ STATEMENT ON
THE TERRORIST ATTACKS IN BRUSSELS, THE KINGDOM OF BELGIUM

ASEAN Member States strongly condemn the terrorist attacks in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium on 22 March 2016, which caused numerous deaths and injuries, and damaged properties.
ASEAN expresses its deepsympathies and condolences to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Belgium and to the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks.
ASEAN fully supports the efforts of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium in returning the situation to normalcy as soon as possible and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
ASEAN reaffirms its strong commitment to working closely with the international community in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever it is committed.

H.E. Dr. Thanat Khoman, Former Deputy Prime Minister and
Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand

We, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers, are saddened to learn that H.E. Dr. Thanat Khoman, former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Kingdom ofThailand, the last surviving Founding Father who signed the 1967 Bangkok Declaration, passed away at the age of 102.
His immeasurable contribution and dedication to the establishment of ASEAN has laid a solid foundation of the ASEAN Community.
On this sorrowful occasion, we would like to express our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to his family through the Government of the Kingdom ofThailand.
