An official welcoming ceremony was held at the National
Assembly where Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser and his
delegation were welcomed by his Lao counterpart Bouasone
Bouphavanh and high-ranking officials.
Both sides then attended an official meeting held at the
International Cooperation and Training Centre, which was
chaired by the two prime ministers.
Mr Bouasone applauded the visit by Prime Minister Sheikh
Nasser, saying it was a significant milestone in efforts
to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between
the two nations.
It also increases solidarity, understanding and
cooperation between the countries.
The two prime ministers expressed satisfaction about the
relationship between Laos and Kuwait and the trust which
has been built between the two countries and peoples.
They highly valued the fruitful results of assistance
provided on each side and the benefits these efforts
have created.
The two leaders stressed the need to increase
cooperation at bilateral and multilateral level for
mutual benefit.
Both sides signed four agreements and two memorandums of
understanding (MOUs), which were agreements on: trade,
economic and technical cooperation, the encouragement
and reciprocal protection of investment, the avoidance
of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion
with respect to taxes on income and on capital.
They signed two MOUs on conducting bilateral
consultation, and on civil and aviation cooperation.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser and
his delegation paid a courtesy visit to President
Choummaly Sayasone at the Presidential Palace.
President Choummaly expressed his warm welcome to the
delegation and praised the visit for strengthening the
foundation of cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser informed President
Choummaly about the fruitful outcomes of the meeting
with the Lao Prime Minister.
He also thanked the Lao government and people for the
warm welcome provided to his delegation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser conveyed an invitation from
Kuwait 's King to President Choummaly to pay an official
visit to Kuwait .
He also invited his Lao counterpart Bouasone Bouphavanh
to visit Kuwait .
The Lao side thanked Kuwait and accepted the invitation.
The visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser was in
response to an invitation by Mr Bouasone.
