Prime Minister heads for S. Korea

Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh and a delegation of top government officials left Vientiane for the Republic of Korea. Mr Bouasone and his delegation will pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea from June 18-20, 2008

The visit is in response to an invitation from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Mr Han Seung Soo.

The Prime Minister and his delegation bid farewell to other senior officials at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office, which was also attended by representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Laos.

Laos and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic relations in October 1995. Since then, many Korean companies have invested in Laos. Some are involved in commercial tree plantations and another group will open a commercial bank in Vientiane this year. Other companies have expressed an interest in future investment in Laos.
