Deputy Prime Minister leaves for Russia
Lao government officials led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith on June 16 left Vientiane for Moscow on a two-day visit to the Russian Federation.
A send-off ceremony for Dr. Thongloun and his delegation on June 16 was attended by Russian Ambassador to Laos Vladimir Plotnikov and Lao government officials.
Dr. Thongloun, who is also Chairman of the Lao -Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade/Economic and Scientific/Technical Cooperation, and his delegation will attend a meeting of the commission.
The seventh meeting of the commission will take place from June 18-19 in Moscow.
The objective of the meeting is to discuss the progress and further development of bilateral cooperation.
During their visit, the Laos delegation will visit important economic sites and place of cultural interest in Moscow.
The last meeting of the commission took place in Vientiane in December 2006.
On that occasion progress in areas of cooperation was discussed, and measures taken to further develop bilateral cooperation.
