Laos and Japan co-operation expanded

A high ranking delegation of Laos led by Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh arrived in Tokyo on 20 May for attending the 15th International meeting on future of Asia which held in Japan from 21-22 May.

While in Tokyo, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh have a working session with Japanese counterpart Taro Aso where the sides highly valued the co-operation made by Laos and Japan in the past few years, especially the exchange visit of the two sides high level delegations.

On this occasion, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso provided invitation from the Japanese government to the President Choummaly Sayasone to pay an official working visit to Japan by the earlier 2010. The visit will coincide with the celebration to mark the 55th Anniversary founding of Laos and Japan diplomatic relations. At the talk, Prime Minister Taro Aso also announced future assistant plans of Japan to help Laos to address some problems affected from the world financial crisis. Prime Minister Bouasone expressed thanks and gratitude to Prime Minister Taro Aso for invitation and will report to President Choummaly Sayasone for consideration.

The Lao side also proposed some priority projects for social-economic development which aiming to reduce the poverty in Laos to Prime Minister Taro Aso. The Japanese side agreed to encourage the Japanese businessmen to Laos while the Lao sides confirmed to continue to improve its environment for investment.
