Laos and UK sign MOU to implement Prisoner Transfer Agreement
A ceremony to sign the MOU to implement the UK-Laos Prisoner Transfer Agreement signed in London on May 7, was held in Vientiane on 28 July between Mr. Phongsavat Boupha, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Chris Bryant, Foreign Office Minister of UK.
Attending at the signing ceremony were also senior officials from Laos and UK including UK ambassador to Laos.The signing of the MOU was a part of efforts and co-operation between Laos UK governments to allow prisoners to serve their sentences in their homeland and receive visits from relatives and friends and access rehabilitation programmes in their home country.
