Laos comments on Tibet riots
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement last
week to express the stance of Laos towards the riots
occurring in Lhasa, China’s Tibet Autonomous Region,
that began on March 14 2008.
According to a press release, the ministry has closely
followed the eruption of the riots and considers that
the incidents are opposed to the growing trend towards
peace, stability and development cooperation in the
region and in the world.
Laos supports all necessary measures taken by China to
keep the situation under control and maintain security
in society and condemns all actions by bad elements that
lead to unrest.
The ministry sees that political issues should in no way
be associated with the Olympic Games that will take
place in China in August, and hopes the situation will
soon return to normal.
