ASEAN extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the Government and people of France, especially to the families of the victims of this horrible attack.

ASEAN expresses its solidarity with and support to the Government and people of France in bringing those responsible to justice.

ASEAN is committed to working closely with the international community in the fight against all forms of violence.

THE HOSTAGE SIEGE IN DHAKA

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)strongly condemns the hostage taking that occurred on 1-2 July 2016 in Dhaka, People’s Republic of Bangladesh that left many Bangladeshi nationals and foreigners dead and injured.

ASEAN expresses its sympathies and condolences to the Government and people of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and to the families of the victims as well as Governments, peoples and families of the foreign victims.

ASEAN supports the effort of the Bangladeshi Government in the operation to rescue the hostages.

ASEAN, in the wake of terrorist attacks across regions of the world, reiterates its strong commitment to working closely with the international community in the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever it is committed.
