President Bounnhang Vorachit received a courtesy call from Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and his delegation, on September 7, 2016, Vientiane, Laos.

In his talks with the Japanese Prime Minister, President Bounnhang asked the visiting guest to extend his regards to Emperor Akihito and the Japanese dynasty.

The President appreciated the working visit by the Japanese Prime Minister to Laos to attend the summits held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit and highly valued the bilateral relations and cooperation between Laos and Japan over the past six decades.

The President also mentioned his appreciationfor the successful bilateral meeting between the Japanese Prime Minister and his Lao counterpart and the adoption by the two governments of their cooperation plan for sustainable development in Laos.

Lastly, President Bounnhang expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its assistance in various areas over the past years and its support for Laos’ hosting of the ASEAN Summits and related meetings in Vientiane.
