2017 is a historic year, marking the 50^th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN (8 August 1967-8 August 2017) and the 20^th anniversary of Lao PDR’s accession to ASEAN (23 July 1997-23 July 2017).
